Shingles blown off in a Chinook? Water stain on the ceiling? We find the real cause, fix it properly and tell you honestly whether the rest of the roof has years left.

Most roof repairs in Lethbridge come down to three things: wind, water and age. Our Chinook winds lift and tear shingles, freeze-thaw cycles work water into every weak spot, and our hot, dry summers bake older shingles until they crack. The good news is that a lot of problems can be fixed without replacing the whole roof — if they're caught early and fixed properly.
Roof problems we repair
- Missing or blown-off shingles after a windstorm
- Roof leaks — ceiling stains, drips in the attic, water around light fixtures
- Lifted or unsealed shingles that flap in the wind
- Damaged flashing around chimneys, walls, skylights and plumbing stacks
- Cracked or damaged roof vents and pipe boots
- Ridge cap damage
- Ice dam damage at the eaves
- Storm and hail damage — see hail damage & insurance claims
Wind damage: the Lethbridge special
Lethbridge is one of the windiest cities in Canada. When a Chinook comes through with gusts over 100 km/h, older shingles — especially 3-tab — start to lift. Once the seal strip lets go, the next gust bends the shingle back, creases it, and eventually tears it off. That's why you'll often see a few shingles in the yard after a big wind.
A missing shingle isn't just cosmetic. It exposes the nails and underlayment of the row below, and the next rain or snow melt goes straight in. Get it fixed soon — it's usually a small, quick job if you don't wait.
If you're losing shingles every winter, the honest answer may be that the roof is done. An upgrade to architectural shingles with a much higher wind rating can stop the yearly repair bills.
Finding the real cause of a leak
Water travels. A stain in your living room ceiling might start six feet uphill at a pipe boot or a piece of flashing. Patching the spot right above the stain often doesn't fix anything.
We trace the leak from the attic and the roof, find where water is actually getting in, and fix that. The most common culprits we see:
- Cracked rubber pipe boots around plumbing stacks
- Loose or rusted flashing at chimneys and where the roof meets a wall
- Ice damming at the eaves during freeze-thaw cycles
- Exposed or backed-out nails
- Worn-out shingles in a valley, where the most water runs
Repair or replace? An honest answer
We don't push a new roof on anyone who doesn't need one. After we look at the roof, you'll get a straight recommendation:
- Repair if the problem is isolated and the rest of the roof is in decent shape.
- Replace if the shingles are worn out across the whole roof, you're on your third repair in a few years, or there's damage to the deck underneath.
Either way, you get it in writing with a clear price. If it's time for a new roof, see our roof replacement page for how we do it.

Winter roof repairs
Roofs don't only break in summer. We work year-round, and we can make repairs on winter days when it's safe and the conditions are right. If water is coming in and the weather won't cooperate, we'll help you stop the damage first and finish the permanent fix as soon as we can.
Storm damage and insurance
If wind or hail caused the damage, it may be covered by your home insurance. We'll photograph the damage, write up a detailed repair estimate and can talk to your adjuster. Your insurer decides what's covered — we just make sure the damage is documented clearly.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a roof repair cost?
It depends on what's wrong and how easy it is to get to. Replacing a few blown-off shingles is a small job; chasing a leak around a chimney or skylight takes more. We look first and give you a written price before any work starts. Call (403) 929-5588.
Can you come out quickly for a leak?
Call (403) 929-5588 — we answer any time. If water is coming in, we'll help you stop the damage first and fix it properly as soon as the weather allows.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
If the damage is in one area and the rest of the roof is in decent shape, repair. If the shingles are worn out everywhere, the roof is 20+ years old, or you're fixing something new every winter, replacement is usually better value. We'll tell you honestly.
Can you match my existing shingles?
We get as close as possible. Shingle colours fade and product lines change, so an exact match on an older roof isn't always possible. We'll show you the closest option before we start.
Is wind damage covered by insurance?
Often, but it depends on your policy. We can document the damage with photos and give you a written estimate to send to your insurer. Your insurance company makes the coverage decision.
Can you roof in the winter?
Yes — we work year-round, including winter. Southern Alberta gets plenty of workable winter days, especially during a Chinook. We watch the forecast, use the right installation methods for cold weather, and won't install in conditions that would hurt the roof.
Do I need to be home while you work?
No. We need access to the yard and an outdoor power outlet is helpful. Most homeowners are around at the start and for the final walkthrough, but it isn't required — we'll call or text you with updates.
What does cleanup look like?
Every job ends with our Yard-Clean Promise: a magnetic nail sweep of the lawn, driveway and beds, all debris hauled away, and a final walkthrough with you. Your yard is safe for kids and pets the moment we leave.
